The Dogs of '06 Iditarod

Like any athletic event the roster at the start line is always different than what one might have guessed a few weeks ago.  Here is the line up that will be on the start line.

Stormy:  A 3 Yr Old Female who finished Iditarod '04 in fine style.  Sister to Reba, Hartley and Swen.  Favorite of Haslett School.

Carter: A 5 year old male and leader.  He finished '04 Iditarod strongly and is a solid dog.
Alto:  A 5 year old male and a top leader.  He has finished 2 Iditarods.  His toughness got him through '04 Iditarod in spite of a serious foot injury prior to the race.  He is in the picture with Jim under the Burled Arch in Nome.
Utah:  A 5 year old female and a tough fast leader.  She just doesn't tire!  She has finished 2 Iditarods, an amazing dog.  She is also with Jim in the picture taken under the Burled Arch at the finish line in Nome.
Spelaman: A small but focused female who just puts her head down and leads.  She is a great dog and isn't easily  distracted.
Swen:  A 3 year old outstanding leader and all around good dog.  He is partial to Chris but still does a great job for other drivers.  He has power, speed and stamina plus listens closely to the driver.  This is his first Iditarod.  Watch for his career to blossom.
Soap Here:  Ok so Soap has a strange name.  But he is a friendly dog that likes to lead.  Jim will run him in lead for many miles in Iditarod.
Tine:  A jet black, quite dog that does what his is trained to do with no fuss.  Tine will be a big contributor in Iditarod.

Teller:  A little growly when around strange dogs, Teller is a friendly but tough dog.  He is a solid Iditarod competitor so look for him at the finish line.
Hartley:  Swen's brother and one of the best team dogs I've ever seen.  He pulled solidly up to Nome where he got a little tired in Iditarod '04.  Now he has taken up leading.  Watch for him in Nome.  Actually, Harley is on the A team driven by Gregg Hickmann.  We just couldn't stand to not list him.  He is one of our heros.
Reba:  Sister to Swen, Hartley and Stormy but looks a lot like Hartley.  She is quiet but when you get in trouble she is 100%.  She led for 300 miles of Iditarod '04
King: A big white dog who lays down and puts his feet up in the air when it is time to have booties put on.

Raven: A tough and fast 3 year old female.  She leads but is a little scared when taking a team out out of the yard.  She is a twin to Olive and Jim often can't tell them apart.

Olive:  Ditto raven except Olive has one ear the stand up and one the a doesn't.  Taka a look a Falcon her brother to see how her ears look.

Sparrow:  Tough and fast Sparrow is the best of the litter.
She is sister to Olive, Raven, Cookie, and Falcon.  Like Hartley, Sparrow has made the A team and will be driven by Gregg Hickmann.  She too is one of our heroes and we are proud of her.
Ernie:  In left lead position: A young dog in his first Iditarod.  He'll get a dose of leading along side of several others to toughen him to the conditions. Watch for Ernie at the finish line in Nome
Falcon:  He doesn't tire; he is the first up and ready to go again. He'll get a big dose of trail during Iditarod. This guy is an awesome dog.

Cookie is an all-around dog.  She is happy to run anywhere in the team.
